ALC Summer Academy

Dear 287 Families,

Intermediate District 287 is offering a Project-based Summer Academy through our Alternative Learning Academy programs and Online Learning through Northern Star Online to help students earn credits over the summer.

Project-Based Summer Academy (Distance Learning)

Students will earn credits and gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge. Credits will be based on the subjects in the project. Students can earn two quarter credits (one semester) during the 12 days. Attendance and participation expected in class meeting times for a MINIMUM of 12 hours for a semester credit. Credit is not earned through time in class meetings–it is earned by engaging in a project to produce a product at the end. Grading will be on a Pass/In Progress basis.
