Shift to Distance Learning

Hello District 287 families,

Due to the number of staff absences (approximately 25% out yesterday), about half of our students attending school, and case rates continuing to increase, we have made the decision to shift to Distance Learning for students through January 21, 2022

  • Wednesday, January 12 will be a NO SCHOOL DAY for students (staff will prepare for Distance Learning)
  • Distance learning will take place Thursday, January 13 through Friday, January 21. Note that Monday, January 17 is a non-school day.
  • Dependent on case rates, our tentative plan is to return to in person learning on Monday, January 24.

Important information:

  • Devices: Devices will be sent home with students today. Our school will also be open on Wednesday should you need to pick up materials, medication, or anything else from school.
  • Meal information:  Free meal packs are available to all enrolled Intermediate District 287 students during distance learning.  Meals may be picked up at any of our school sites on Friday, January 14th from 7am-2pm.  Please sign up for a meal pack by 8am on Thursday, January 13th.

During Distance Learning, students stay home and are expected to learn from home either remotely or with pre-arranged materials/activities. Your student’s classroom teacher will be in contact with each student about their learning plan.

The decision to move to Distance Learning is a difficult one, and we understand the hardships it can create for families, yet safety remains our highest priority.

If needed, please contact your student’s teacher or call your school’s main office for assistance.

Again, Wednesday, January 12 is a no school day for students.  Distance Learning (from home) will take place Thursday, January 13 through Friday, January 21, 2022.

Please stay safe.

Sincerely,

Sandy Lewandowski
Superintendent
