Vocational Outreach Services

Vocational Outreach Services (VOS), Intermediate District 287, offers an array of summer work experience opportunities for students with special needs.  Our primary goal is to serve students who require job coach assistance in a 1:4 staff ratio.

VOS is an itinerant supported summer work experience program for students with special needs, ages 14-21, who need community work experience with job coach support and work experience coordination to build career and technical skills. Students work up to four hours per day in a community job site in a small group (approximately one job coach and up to four students). The mission of VOS is to provide work experience resulting in Community Based Evaluation of work skills and capabilities on the job. The program is designed to provide generalization of all academic skills in a work environment; structured to model and strengthen positive work and social skills with employers and co-workers; projected to develop and enhance independent work skills for success in future employment; and designed to build on career and technical education skills through community work experience.  Below you will find some helpful information and forms related to our VOS program.
