ECLIPSE is an in-house Vocational Program that teaches students with special needs Vocational Skills. ECLIPSE is for individuals with mild to moderate mental impairments (ages 14-18) and the students work on improving their vocational Work Skills and Work Habits. The ECLIPSE Program provides students at NEC with meaningful and purposeful job tasks. Some of the seated work that we do for local businesses include: stuffing envelopes, labeling items, sorting and packaging items, and various fine motor tasks (i.e. putting things together or taking things apart). There are a large amount of students who are more successful with Vocational tasks when movement is incorporated into their work shifts, in this case we offer jobs that require them to be moving/working throughout the building, these jobs include: laundry service (wash, dry, fold, & deliver), Delivery Service (school mail, handouts, school orders), Custodial Service (cleaning windows, vacuuming, wiping tables, door handles, and drinking fountains, & cleaning the staff lounge/kitchen/weight room), and assisting the school kitchen in doing dishes, cleaning the dining room, taking out the trash, breaking down the card board and recycling the cans/glass.
