Behavior Intervention Specialist
The Behavior Intervention Specialists role is to provide expertise and support for students who have challenging behaviors. This includes assessment, observations of students, consultation and working with IEP teams in the development of individualized intervention plans. Specific assessment and intervention plans consist of creating a Social Learning Profile (SLP) for each assigned student. Ongoing data keeping assistance is provided that supports the ongoing use of student’s SLP’s so adjustments can be made as needed. Finally, ensuring that IEP teams are using least restrictive, best practices in accordance with Minnesota Laws on regulating behavioral interventions.
