The mission of the SUN Transition North program is to provide a safe and secure environment in which students with significant communication and self-regulatory behavioral challenges can increase their ability to participate in post-graduation work and social activities with decreased support from care providers.
Students with Unique Needs
SUN Transition serves students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD), age 18 to 21, who have significant needs in both the adaptive and social emotional areas. Many of the SUN students also have a diagnosis of Autism. Thsese students are provided with a very small staff to student ratio and, in some cases, individualized space to meet thier needs. The tree areas of transition are taught, along with social emotional learning. SUN students are integrated into the Phase classes as they are able and take part in instruction in the community, aslo as they are able.
