Transportation for students attending District programs is provided by the student's home school district.
In alignment with the District's PBIS goals, the Transportation Department is proud to roll out it's Bus Ride to Success program! Beginning January 16, 2018, students will have the opportunity to be recognized by drivers with a special "TICKET" when they have exhibited safe, respectful, or responsible behaviors on the bus. All mid-day route drivers as well as drivers in our serving districts will be provided with these tickets and encouraged to spot appropriate behaviors. Students will turn success tickets in to their case managers, who will decide how to honor those students. In addition, all buses transporting students for mid-day routes will display the new Bus Ride to Success Expectations as a visual reminder of bus safety rules. It is important that students, parents, and staff understand that the school bus is an extension of the classroom, and our hope is this new program will help students understand the importance of safety on the bus as well as in the classroom. Posters will also be hung in the hallways and classrooms of each building, including a visually-friendly Version for our younger students and students with cognitive challenges.
Our goal is to create a culture wherein the school bus is understood to be an extension of the classroom, and our hope is that this program will provide a link to consistent behaviors both in and out of the classroom.
