On Saturday, District 287 staff will speak during the annual Schoolyard Garden Conference at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The two-day workshop is open to all community groups.

During the Saturday sessions, SEC Instructor, Brian Wheat, will present “K-12 Curriculum”. Jason Reese will present "Planning and Output Maximization". Their focus will be our initiatives for tying gardens to student learning including: Building a community by utilizing volunteer forces consisting of teachers, students, building staff, and local gardeners, and by donating to the food shelf; Creating healthy options for students and staff including supplying cafeteria programs with fresh produce, and making fresh baby food for parenting students and on-site day care center; and Using the produce to supplement curriculum in food science, culinary arts classes by collaborating across disciplines.

We also have schoolyard gardens at Edgewood Education Center. Spring is just around the corner!
