New Ann Bremer Education Center to Open this Fall Announces Stephen West as School Leader: Mr. West is a rockstar principal with over 20 years experience in educational leadership
Intermediate District 287 in September will open the new Ann Bremer Education Center located in Brooklyn Park under the leadership of Stephen West. The newly constructed campus will merge two district schools, Edgewood Education Center and Northwest Tech Center, both of which serve students with unique needs in the west metro.
The district announced its new school leader this week, Stephen West, who is a 20 year veteran of public education. “Mr. West has an extraordinary track record of successful school leadership,” said Superintendent Sandy Lewandowski. “He is known as a strong equity leader and has a deep belief in each and every student to succeed, two of the most important values that we hold in 287.”
Mr. West has extensive experience as a school leader serving in principal, assistant principal and dean roles in numerous middle and high schools in the Twin Cities. Most recently, Mr. West served as the superintendent of Winona Area Public Schools for three years. Mr. West received a Masters’ from St. Mary’s University and holds a teaching, principal, and superintendent license.
“I am beyond ready to meet the families and staff of our new school,” Mr. West said. “There is no doubt in my mind that - together - we will create a place where students and staff alike thrive on learning, life, and challenges. It is within us to imagine and build a fun, safe, and dynamic school where all of our students achieve. I am excited to build on the strengths and achievements of students and staff of Edgewood and Northwest Tech Center, and lead us forward in this journey. I’m eager to share my passions, values, and beliefs with you, and learn about yours.”
The families of the new Ann Bremer Education Center will be invited to a meet and greet event this spring.
