Minnesota School Board Recognition Week

I’m proud to celebrate Minnesota School Board Recognition Week this week! Our school board members’ roles expand so much farther than setting policy for our district. They are some of the most involved advocates for our unique student population, and they carry their commitment to our students forward to their home school districts (our 11 member school districts).

I can tell you that we have an extremely supportive board. They ask tough questions, help us navigate community and political matters, support our strategic efforts, in particular our racial equity efforts, spread our message about the realities in District 287 to other policymakers in the state, and of course, approve the important policies that keep our district safe and effective, among many others.

I couldn’t be more pleased to have such a dedicated and engaged board to serve our students. If you don’t know them already, I welcome you to check out our school board page on our website, and if you are inclined, give a shoutout to our school board members on social media with the hashtag #CelebrateSchoolBoards.

Please join me in thanking our school board members for their service to Intermediate District 287, our students, staff, and families.
