Mid-Year Elections for Dependent Care Flex Allowed without a Qualifying Event Effective March 1, 2021

On December 27, 2020, the year-end spending bill was signed into law and included FSA relief options for employers. With the passage of this bill, employers are able to elect to allow for new mid-year enrollments in Dependent Care Flexible Spending without a qualifying event.

As of March 1, 2021, staff who are not currently enrolled in Dependent Care Flexible Spending for the 2021 plan year are able to enroll without a qualifying event.

To enroll, please complete the 2021 Mid-Year Dependent Care Flexible Spending Enrollment Form. HR will send a confirmation email to confirm that your enrollment has been received, when the deductions will start, and what the deduction amounts per pay period will be.

Dependent Care Flexible spending is an account in which an employee puts money aside pre-tax for reimbursement of eligible daycare expenses from the date of the election through December 31, 2021.
