Supporting You During the SNAP Benefit Pause

District 287 All Staff Message

Dear Intermediate District 287 Families/Caregivers,

Due to the federal government shutdown, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP) benefits will not be issued on November 1, 2025. In Minnesota, SNAP supports over 440,000 residents, including approximately 152,000 children. We understand that this news may cause uncertainty and concern for many in our community.

Each of our schools is developing responses tailored to their communities in collaboration with School Social Workers, Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) teams, and equity teams. Social Workers and FSCS teams are compiling a list of local food resources, including food shelves and community distribution events, which will be shared in your school’s newsletter as new opportunities become available.

Please review the resources below, or reach out to your student’s Social Worker if you would like assistance locating food supports.

Thank you,

Intermediate District 287
