In the Intermediate Teacher Residency Apprenticeship Collaborative (ITRAC) program, teacher apprentices learn through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience. They apply knowledge gained in Related Technical Instruction (RTI) to their own classrooms, guided by experienced Journeyworkers (mentor teachers) who provide feedback and share insights into the day-to-day practices of teaching.
With a job-embedded approach, apprentices gradually take on more responsibility, moving from observation to co-teaching and eventually leading. ITRAC is Minnesota's FIRST Registered Teacher Apprenticeship, which is a powerful blend of theory and practice that helps apprentices grow into confident, capable teachers.
