PhotoDuring school age years, proper nutrition can reinforce lifelong eating habits that contribute to a student’s overall well being. This can help them grow and learn to their fullest potential and then go on to lead a healthy lifestyle.

USDA is an equal opportunity provider.

From now through December 31, 2020, District 287 can serve free breakfast and lunch to anyone in our school communities, 18 and under. Children don’t need to be enrolled to participate. If your child is over 18 and enrolled in a program at one of our district schools, they also qualify for free meals.

Ordering Meals

Meals for Hybrid Learning

Food Service staff are excited to begin providing meals to students at school. Once students begin hybrid learning, they will receive free breakfast and lunch on the days they are at school and will be sent home with a free 3 day pack of meals for the days they are not at school. Meal pre orders are not required for hybrid learning, all students will receive free meals. If you do not want your child to receive free meals during hybrid learning, you may opt out by informing your students teacher.  Otherwise, all students will be encouraged to participate in these meals.

Meals for Connected Learning

If your student is remaining in connected learning and you would like to receive free 5 day meal packs, please pre order those meals a week ahead on the meal order form. Meals may be picked up each Friday at any of our four schools.

Now more than ever, it is so important that all of our families apply for Educational Benefits, whether you think you qualify or not. Our ability to serve free meals to all is set to expire on December 31, 2020, or sooner, depending on government funding. Students who qualify for educational benefits will continue to access free breakfast and lunch once these free meals expire. These same educational benefits also provide critical funding for our schools and district. We encourage all families to apply for educational benefits at https://paypams.com/OnlineApp.aspx.

  • A new application is needed per family each year.
  • The income thresholds are higher than in some programs, so many families are surprised to find they DO qualify.

We look forward to serving your students! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at 763-550-7136 or foodservice@district287.org.
