The SEC is at the fore front of innovation and responsiveness in meeting students’ most challenging academic, and social emotional needs.
The SEC uses assessment data to focus instruction in increasing student achievement. The data gathered from a variety of assessments guide the individualized instruction for each student.
The SEC is one of 11 schools in District 287. The faculty consists of licensed and non-licensed professionals committed to ensuring a safe and nurturing educational environment for all students.

It's that time of year again...cold temperatures, heavy winds and crunchy snow!
Families: Remember to watch our website for official updates this winter. As a general rule, announcements are made by 6:00 a.m. via local media outlets and the district’s communications channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, websites, and our emergency notification system).

Did you know that we have a published children's book author in our midst? Well we do. Geoff Saign, an Education Assistant at South Education Center has three published children's books - A Series called the WhipEye Chronicles.
The WhipEye Chronicles, follow the fantastical world saving adventures of Samantha, a nature loving nerd and her side kick Jake. Geoff's book series began with the first novel titled WhipEye which is the winner of the International Book Award for Children's Fiction.
WhipEye was shortly followed by 2 other novels in the series, Gorgon and DrasiNe. These stories touch on love, caring for nature, resilience and perseverance - great lessons for kids and adults.
In addition to being an accomplished writer, Geoff teaches novel writing and self awareness classes and enjoys nature walks and scuba diving in his spare time.
