Student Choice Programs

District 287 offers more than 120 programs and services. Students can access some programs by direct enrollment, in their own school, or through their school counselors. All special education programs require a referral from the student’s district. The menu to the left provides specific information about how to enroll in each choice program.

Area Learning Centers offer three distinct program options at four sites, for students at risk of not graduating. They include the North and South Education Center Academies, W-ALT, and Hennepin Gateway to College. Students can enroll directly.

Career and Technical courses are offered as an elective in the student’s high school. Courses are offered on the Eden Prairie Campus of Hennepin Technical College.

Gifted Education options require identification by the students’ Gifted and Talented Program. Northern Star Online (NSO) provides high school courses online.. Students’ high school counselors can assist in the registration process.

World Languages may be offered as a choice in a students’ school, or through NSO.
