Target Population

Talk'n Photos is appropriate for individuals of all ages who may display one or more of the following:

  • Developmental Cognitive Delays
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • English Language Learners
  • Neurological Disorders
  • Pre-School (Early Language Learners)
  • Limited Vocabulary
  • Poor speech production/no speech 

In addition to using Talk'n Photos for communication, it is an excellent support for classroom and therapeutic activities.

Talk'n Photos Instructions

Tip - If you’re using web based clip art, it saves time to search and load clip art/photos in advance of creating and editing albums.

To Create an Album

  • Open Talk'n Photos. Press the settings icon. It’s the little image of gears in the top left corner.
  • Turn edit “on” Set password if desired (you can email it to yourself...just in case). If you do set a password, please save the email in a safe place. If you don’t elect to send the email to yourself for a chosen password, the password will reset after three incorrect attempts. If for some reason, you’ve managed to both forget your password and lose the email with the password in it, you can send an email to (add email). This is an autoresponding email that will email you a reset key to disable your current password. Enter that code in the password window to disable the password.
  • Select  “done.”                                                                  
  • Select “edit” upper right.            
  • Select “add album.” 
  • Select “album name” and a keyboard will appear, type in the album name.
  • Select “add photo” and follow directions on the screen.
  • Use pinching motion to zoom in and out/resize the photo you have chosen. By touching the picture again you will be able to rotate photo if necessary.
  • Select “use” (upper right).
  • Select the microphone just above the photo space
    to record sound for the cover.
  • Select the microphone icon again in the bottom left of the screen to start and stop recording sound. The playback button allows you to listen to your recording.  “Trash” the recording if not satisfied, re-record.
  • Select “done.”
  • Select “save”, you will now be on the album cover page.

How to add photos to individual albums

  • From album cover page, select album you would like to fill.
  • Select “edit”  (upper right).
  • Select “Photo Caption” and a keyboard will appear, type in the photo name.
  • Select “Add Photo” and follow directions on the screen.
  • Use pinching motion to zoom in and out/resize the photo you have chosen. By touching the picture again you will be able to rotate photo if necessary.
  • Select “Use” (upper right).
  • Select the microphone just above the photo space to record sound for the photo.
  • Select the microphone icon again in the bottom left of the screen to start and stop recording sound. The playback button allows you to listen to your recording.  “Trash” the recording if not satisfied, re-record.
  • Select “done.”
  • Rinse and repeat until you have added all your photos.

To change the sequence of the photos
Select edit mode.
On right side select icon (looks like 3 bars), slide item up or down to new location.
Select “done.”

To exit editing mode
Exit edit mode when finished programming by entering “settings/off/done.”

Frequently Asked Questions
 

Question: Do you need to have Internet access to use the app?
Answer:  No, the app is self-contained, and will work fine without any internet access. You will, however, need photos in your device or a camera on your device to add images to the albums.

Question:  Is there a way to share albums created with Talk n' Photos?
Answer: No. Currently, there isn't a way to post/email albums/share albums created within the program. We are exploring the potential for this, but want to be respectful of our target audience in terms of program complexity and privacy issues.
