Health Careers (Spring semester only)

Location: EPC
Time: 10:00 AM, 12:10 PM

This exciting course is for students who are interested in exploring a career in the medical field. Students will learn about the various medical careers through field trips, guest speakers, and acquiring basic knowledge of medical terms and anatomy and physiology.

Areas of study include:

  • Medical terminology
  • Safety and infection control
  • Career exploration
  • Leadership skills

Nursing Assistant* (Fall semester only)

Location: EPC
Time: 10:00 AM, 12:10 PM

This advanced course prepares students for entry-level patient care jobs. Upon successful completion, students will receive American Heart Association CPR, and First Aid cards, and be eligible to take the state Nursing Assistant Registry exam. A mantoux test as well as a clean background check are required. The course meets Federal and Minnesota Department of Health requirements.

  • Safety and infection control
  • Death and dying
  • Nutrition
  • Personal care
  • Vital signs

Prerequisite: Pass the HTC Accuplacer test within the areas of reading comprehension and listening skills.

*A uniform fee will be required. A uniform is mandatory for the clinical experience.
