At NEC we intentionally choose to recognize the greatness in both staff and students. We do this because we are committed to creating a climate of growth and resilience. Our vehicle for creating this climate is the Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA).
The foundation of this approach is:
1. Absolutely NO: Refusing to give energy and relationship to negative behavior.
2. Absolutely YES: Relentlessly energizing the positive.
3. Absolutely CLEAR: Establish and maintain absolute clarity around rules and give un-energized consequences when a rule is broken.
"Greatness Forms" are one concrete way that we can hold the mirror up for students and staff to see themselves clearly in moments of success. We begin to shape and grow positivity by shining the light on success and holding it in our attention by giving it time and description.
